YOU ARE FAKE
The main piece of the project, a video installation on 6 computer screens, is a study of media reactions to Donald Trump referring to a non-existent incident that apparently happened "last night in Sweden". Each screen presents different news channel, showing how strongly news coverage can differ depending on where you look. The compilation of the clips creates a conversation about the concept and different perceiptions of truth in media and politics.
Design a two spread article (text was provided) about travelling to Pyongyang and the magazine's cover, targeted at travelers and explorers looking for unconventional experiences.
Combining my research in the use of fake news in US politics with my artwork, I created and designed a small booklet for my project. To show how the term is often used to shut up news reporting and completely discredit any criticism, I was inspired by classic newspaper design. The cover consists entirely of tweets concerning fake news by Donald Trump.
Both amused and shocked by what I had seen following and analyzing Donald Trump's twitter account for a few months, I wanted to present the lack of real content, bad grammar and use of repetitive slogans/themes. To make his job easier, I created The White House Tweet Generator, remixing his past tweets every time you want to make a new one.
